Prisma Health and UnitedHealthcare have reached an agreement on health plans. Prisma Health released the following statement on Friday afternoon: “This new agreement ensures that Prisma Health hospitals, physician offices and other medical services are included in the networks of United Commercial and Medicare Advantage health plans. We are pleased that United has agreed to fair reimbursements that reflect the increased costs of providing care to patients. These terms will enable us to prioritize patient needs and provide our physicians and hospitals with the resources they need to provide high-quality care to United health plan members.” Prisma Health is reaching out to affected patients to ensure they are aware of the new agreement, which will be retroactive to June 1, 2024. Information is also available at www.prismahealth.org/unitedhealth. UnitedHealthcare released the following statement on Friday: “UnitedHealthcare and Prisma Health System have agreed to a new multi-year contract that will restore network access to the health system’s hospitals and facilities.” The company and its physicians terminated the contract, effective immediately. People enrolled in employer-sponsored commercial plans and Medicare Advantage plans, including group retirees, began receiving Prisma in-network services starting July 19. “We thank our members and customers for their support and patience throughout this process. We are honored to continue supporting all those who rely on us for access to quality, affordable health care throughout South Carolina.” Related articles:
