Earlier, Communications and Information Minister Budi Aryeh Setiadi assured that Starlink’s presence in Indonesia would not harm local internet providers.
He said Starlink’s services will primarily focus on providing internet access to areas that are not covered by local internet providers due to geography.
He emphasized that Starlink has obtained the necessary licenses to operate as a telecommunications provider in Indonesia.
Budi revealed that Starlink plans to test the network in Indonesia’s new capital Nusantara in mid-May, adding that the internet provider will begin full-scale operations this year.
