Located in the unforgettable Labuan Bajo, TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa offers guests an incredible opportunity to explore Indonesia’s astounding (and less touristy) island of Flores. Inspired by traditional apple orchards, the hotel expertly blends luxury with the rich cultural heritage of the Manggarai people.
With its unique design and commitment to providing unparalleled, authentic experiences, the resort promises an unforgettable vacation and offers a fresh perspective of Southeast Asia away from more densely populated destinations like Bali and Thailand. The resort is also the gateway to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Komodo National Park, one of the few places in the world where you can see the endangered Komodo dragons in their natural environment. Marriott International’s first hotel in Labuan Bajo and The Luxury Collection’s second in Indonesia, this waterfront property is nestled between the canopy of native forest and the beauty of the Flores Sea.
“We are proud to introduce the latest addition to our portfolio: TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Labuan Bajo,” said Ramesh Jackson, regional vice president, Indonesia and Malaysia, Marriott International. “This marks a notable milestone in Marriott International’s expanding presence in the enchanting landscape of Labuan Bajo. We invite travelers to explore and get in touch with the soul of Flores, where luxury is seamlessly intertwined with the rich cultural heritage of this enchanting destination.”
The property’s name, TA’AKTANA, comes from the Manggarai language of Flores and means green land. It is a tribute to the Lingko rice fields, a unique network of rice paddies that hold a special place in traditional Manggarai culture. The hotel stays true to its roots, blending the history, culture and indigenous traditions of the site to offer visitors a unique and authentic Labuan Bajo experience.
Experience Labuan Bajo’s rich culinary traditions first-hand at three fine-dining restaurants, lounges and bars featuring cuisine from the region. Enjoy authentic Indonesian cuisine at Leros, an all-day dining restaurant. Umasa serves family-style Indonesian dishes. Robatayaki restaurant Taba selects ingredients from the islands and prepares them with refined Japanese techniques and finesse. Nera Lounge offers a wide selection of palate-pleasing tapas and cocktails, accompanied by breathtaking sunset views. Sip the night away at Maiga!, a convivial bar with beautiful ocean views.
Guests will be enchanted by the tranquil sanctuary offered by the hotel’s Dia Spa, inspired by the legendary caves of Labuan Bajo. The spa features six private treatment rooms, steam rooms, a luxurious plunge pool and more – a wonderful opportunity to get in touch with Mother Nature. Set against the hotel’s gorgeous design, TA’AKTANA also features a seaside chapel, perfect for weddings.
“We are honored to welcome guests to Labuan Bajo’s haven,” said Peter Paul Kreis, Resort Manager, TA’AKTANA, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, Labuan Bajo. “This resort is more than a destination; it’s a journey into the heart of Labuan Bajo’s traditions and breathtaking scenery. This property is a testament to our commitment to providing unique and authentic guest experiences that blend luxury and tradition.”
