Following days of speculation about the president’s health, President Joe Biden’s physician took the unusual step of releasing a letter on Monday detailing neurologist Dr. Kevin Canard’s visit to the White House, writing that “President Biden has not been seen by a neurologist outside of his annual physical exam.”
O’Connor described Cannard as “a neurology specialist who saw President Biden during his annual physical.”
O’Connor then cited portions of Biden’s final medical examination, which he underwent in February. Biden’s latest medical report, which she released, showed the president had been tested for several neurological disorders, including Parkinson’s disease, with negative results, echoing two other medical reports from Biden’s presidency.
The letter came the same day that the White House struggled to answer questions about Biden’s neurological health after The New York Times first reported that Canard, a Parkinson’s disease expert, had visited the White House eight times in the past eight months and met with O’Connor at least once.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined on the same day to confirm the facts or explain the reasons, citing security reasons.
