JD Vance’s “cat lady” attacks are just the beginning of the Republican obsession with procreation
Before becoming Donald Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance called for higher taxes on childless adults and said their votes should be worth less, said abortion should be “illegal” nationwide, and said the “cat ladies” and “Kamala Harrises” of the world want to “brainwash” other people’s children.
The misogynistic “cat girl” insult is nothing new, nor are anti-abortion Republicans calling for a nationwide ban on abortion access.
But recent resurfacing of the vice presidential nominee’s comments revealing ties to influential right-wing figures who hold conspiracy-like views on birth rates has further increased scrutiny of the pro-birth movement that is shaking up Republican politics.
