It’s the second time in recent weeks that Trump has shared a sexually provocative attack on the vice president, reflecting a history of vulgar insults against political opponents.
On Aug. 18, Trump shared a video from the Daily Meme Team that also included a parody of Alanis Morissette’s “Ironic” and similarly disparaged Harris. Trump’s recent posts, including one that he reposted more than 30 times in a 30-minute period on Wednesday, have also included conspiracy theories and calls for the prosecution of political opponents.
Harris’ campaign has largely avoided engaging with Trump’s personal attacks, but critics say his rhetoric could alienate important voter groups, including women and Black voters. Harris, the first Black woman and first South Asian to be a major party presidential nominee, has faced such attacks throughout her career, which she and her supporters have dismissed as sexist and baseless.
Trump’s history of gender-based attacks is well documented, including during his run for president against Hillary Clinton in 2016. His controversial statements and actions, including his recent $83.3 million defamation judgment against author E. Jean Carroll, have sparked ongoing debate about his conduct and its impact on his political positions.
