The Biden campaign maintains that President Joe Biden will remain in top position in November.
The new memo said voters still supported him despite concerns about his age and that the party had “no plans to field an alternative candidate.”
This comes despite reports that Biden’s family has discussed what a withdrawal from the campaign would look like.
Biden’s campaign has been the subject of speculation for weeks about whether the president will ultimately step down, especially since his disastrous debate defeat.
Campaign Memo Says Biden Will Run
According to a memo obtained by NBC News, the campaign’s battleground state directors said that despite intense media coverage about Democratic Party division, organizers who have spoken to voters have consistently identified issues such as women’s rights and potential Republican policy initiative Project 2025 as most important.
“While voters consistently mention President Biden’s age when contacted, our target voters (both re-engaged and true swing voters) still plan to vote for him, making it clear that this debate has not eroded support among the voters who will decide this election,” Dan Kanninen wrote in the memo.
“We are not taking the situation in the election lightly. There is a lot of work left to do if we are to win in November,” Kanninen said.
But he emphasized a line Biden has repeatedly made after his lackluster debate performance: “I’m in it to win.”
“He is the presumptive nominee with no plans for a replacement. Joe Biden will become the official nominee within the next few weeks,” Kanninen wrote. “It’s time to stop fighting each other. The only person who wins when we fight is Donald Trump.”

Biden was forced to cancel the speech this week amid growing pressure for him to step away from the presidential race after contracting COVID-19.

People familiar with the discussions said consideration of the impact of the campaign on his health, his family and the country’s stability was at the forefront of the discussions.
