Democratic leader Kamala Harris formally announced her candidacy for the US presidential election on Saturday, and she also expressed confidence in her party’s ability to win.
“Today, I signed papers formally declaring my candidacy for the presidential election of the United States,” the US vice president said in a post on Twitter.
“I will work hard to earn every vote, and our people power campaign will prevail in November,” she added.
This comes after US President Joe Biden withdrew from the campaign trail in support of Harris’ presidential bid.
Former US President Barack Obama also voiced his support for Kamala Harris, saying she would “make a great president of the United States.”
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend Kamala Harris to let her know we think she would be a great President of the United States and that we fully support her. We will do everything in our power to help her win the election in November at this critical time for our country and we hope you will join us,” he said in a post on X.
The US presidential election is scheduled to take place on November 5th, pitting Democratic candidate Kamala Harris against Republican candidate Donald Trump.
